• The bungalows in Wood Lane and Masons Lane were built in the 1930's as holiday homes.

• Windmill Pool is a popular stretch of water for a local sailing club.

• The canal is home to a motor yacht club.

• There is an abundance of wildlife around the lakes including many of Britain's native species.

• Mink that have escaped or been released from fur farms by animal rights activists have found their way onto the lakes via the network of canals throughout the area.
